✈️ Getting there
Haneda is ~30 min to the centre, Narita ~60 min; shinkansen links the whole country.
🚇 Getting around
The JR Yamanote line and subways blanket the city; use an IC card (Suica/PASMO).

Tips & hidden gems

  • 💡 Travel light with an IC card

A Suica/PASMO (also on phones) taps you through trains, buses and convenience stores — no paper tickets needed.

  • 💡 Avoid rush hour

Weekday 7:30–9:00 and 17:30–19:00 on the Yamanote and major lines are packed — sightsee around those windows.

  • 💡 Each district has its own character

Shibuya/Shinjuku for youth & nightlife, Ginza for luxury, Asakusa for old town, Akihabara for geek culture, Yanaka for retro strolls.

  • 💡 Hidden gems: views & old town

The free Metropolitan Gov't observatory, Skytree night views, and the back lanes of Yanaka or Kagurazaka are great between the big sights.
